  • Setting: A green where the pin is tucked toward one side of the green. This can be on the course or the driving range.
  • Materials: 10 golf balls and an iron.

  • Find a green where the pin is tucked on the side of the green. For the purposes of this test, we used a pin on the left side.
  • A pin less than 8 paces from the edge of the green is ideal.
  • Drop 10 balls in the fairway, about 150 yards from the hole.
  • If you're doing this test on the course, be sure to move around a bit with each shot to avoid numerous divots in one spot.
  • Your goal is to hit the shots as close to the pin as possible without missing on the short side of the hole (left of a left pin, right of a right pin).
  • Subtract 5 points per shot that misses to the left of the hole (even if it's still on the green!)
  • Add 5 points for shots that finish inside 25 feet and to the right of the hole.
  • Add 1 point for each shot that finds the green.
  • If you're doing this test to a right pin, then flip the scoring and subtract for right misses.
