The Week In Golf Style: U.S. Open Review

Martin Kaymer

It was extremely smart of BOSS Green to dress Kaymer in the same color-block shirt pattern all four days. Giving him an instantly recognizable pattern was a great idea for branding; especially when that brand is cruising to an eight-stroke victory. We love the use of the darker color under the arm and the contrasting placket is right on trend. They both allow for the primary color to pop, usually matching the athletic look of his adidas Gripmores, while his trousers play the supporting role. Even his white belts are worn to perfection -- whether disappearing into his pants as on Thursday, or adding length to his white Sunday shirt. Among all of these bright spots, Kaymer's greatest style asset is his physique. When you're in such great shape, it doesn't take much to look this good.BOSS Green adidas Golf BOSS Green adidas Golf

Rickie Fowler

Mark him down for a 59 from a style standpoint. Not only did Fowler play brilliantly all week, but this nod to Payne Stewart shows he certainly did his homework. He was even smart enough to utilize some Carolina blue.PUMA Golf

Rory McIlory

Rory might have been overlooked this week, but this pink shirt and belt combo is how we want to see him dressed. The lively pallet and good contrast makes him look athletic and in shape. We certainly hope someone at Nike is taking notes.Nike Golf

Jordan Spieth

While the white belt doesn't sit well with us, we're pleased to see Jordan infusing some color into his selections this week. It's nice to see him showing a bit of zip and the fit is getting closer to what it should be. Henrik Stenson

There's a reason Hugo BOSS is one of the dominant fashion brands on a global scale, and this photograph should be Exhibit A in the evidence file. Color-blocked, good contrast, great fit. That's a check mark from top to bottom. Well done.Hugo BOSS

This is interesting, because those of us who are in tune to tour style instantly look at what Keegan has on his feet. Those Air Jordans are certainly unique, and I bet Nike is looking forward to getting them in stores. Azuma Yano

High marks to Azuma for a fun shirt with a fun logo. Taking a cue from Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño, you can't see it here, but there's a pattern under his popped collar. And I think the belt that he paired it with is equally cool.

Webb Simpson

Week after week, tournament after tournament, Izod makes an emphatic and bold statement. Webb is leading the way as evident by how great the clothes look on him. It will be interesting to see what happens when Percy and Levin come off the DL.IZOD Golf

We're always expecting something a little bit off the beaten path from the folks at Iliac by Bert Lamar, and this combination doesn't disappoint. I think it's a nice way to do red, white and blue and the DNA from FootJoy is now a staple in the Walker wardrobe.Iliac Golf FootJoy

Joost's style has come a long way. Last year we battered him for wearing a lot of colors without cohesion. But we think this look is fresh, graphic and makes great impact without going overboard.
