IT HAPPENSAfter a bad shot, I sing or count. Mostly Sugarland or Kenny Chesney. Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott taught me to do this when I went to their Vision54 golf school the week after I won the Kraft Nabisco. They were surprised I showed up.SIBLING DRIVEMy dad taught me and my two older brothers to play on an executive course. I played baseball with them, too.SIESTA HABITEvery day I take a nap. I put on my PJ's and even a room-darkening mask sometimes. I was home-schooled, and my parents ran a day-care center. I napped when the kids did from noon to 2. Doesn't keep me from sleeping 10 hours at night, either.LOVES LONG BALLGrowing up, I admired John Daly and Laura Davies because they hit it so far. I even got to be their standard-bearer at the JCPenney Classic.SHOE FETISHIf I'm playing well, I won't retie my shoes during the round even if they feel loose.
I play the Titleist Pro V1x with a black dot next to the number. I carry nine balls: All 1s on Thursday, 2s on Friday, 3s on Saturday and 4s on Sunday.
I use the ball markers that you snap on the bill of your cap. I like ones that sparkle. They keep me smiling when I line up those tough putts.
At last count, I carry about 24 lip balms. I don't need that many, they just collect. But I'm not superstitious about using the same one if I'm playing well.
I use this big pink headcover to raise awareness for breast cancer. I play several events to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
I carry plenty of food in the bag, everything from peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches to granola bars and bananas. You bet I eat them all, too!
