“The Woods Course at Kingsmill in Virginia is a fun course with a good layout variety of holes - doglegs right and left, short and long par 3's and 4's, with some elevation changes. It is aesthetic with water on a few holes and ravines to negotiate on both the front and back nines. I particularly enjoyed the par four eleventh hole needing a straight drive and then a second shot down to the right over the ravine and bunker, and the pretty 13th hole dogleg right with water hazard in front and to the right of the green. Shot options were pretty good from both the fairway and around the greens, and a few holes offering strategy on the tee shot: play safe or go for it. Conditioning was pretty good, although I played it when it was pretty wet from recent rains. It was not overly challenging, though you did have to keep it straight and play smart to score."

“After a recent upgrade, the Woods Course is possibly the arguably the best of the three courses on the Kingsmill property. The course has significant elevation changes as it winds through dense eastern Virginia hardwood forest. Most of the holes are isolated from the others, resulting in a peaceful and serene round of golf. The holes are generally challenging but fair—good shots are rewarded and birdies can be made. But it's easy to get out of position around the greens and find yourself in impossible locations. A nice challenge that is enjoyable for scratch and higher handicap players."

“Frankly, I think this is the best of the 3 courses (and is normally member-only), minus the last four holes of the River Course. Challenging with narrow fairways, long Par 4s, water and OB. Good mix of holes and you'll have to bend it both ways. Conditioning is usually also the best, absent tournament week for the LPGA, with minimal play compared to the two other resort courses. Restricted flight balls on practice range and only small putting green bunker."

“Decent layout but not particularly challenging or memorable."
