“The Manakin course is the gentler of the two layouts at the Hermitage. It is a fun course, that opens with the "gentle handshake" of #1 and sets the tone for some rolling holes throughout the layout. The par 3 16th is the signature hole that requires more club than it looks like off the tee to a green that slopes from back to front. Fun course to play and great one to build some confidence as it does have some forgiveness off the tee on most holes."

“The Manakin Course at Hermitage Country Club is a pleasant golf course on a nice property. Fairways and greens are extremely generous, and it is quite likely you will lose zero golf balls. The course is very walkable, and tees are adjacent to greens. But playing the Manakin Course is not mentally taxing…there are very few imposing hazards to avoid and little need for strategic thinking on most holes. Given the lack of hazards, the holes blend together. The putting greens do have some interesting character despite the similarity in many of them. This is an excellent course for high handicappers and for those who are learning the game—a good place for a stress-free, if uninteresting, round."
