“Very well designed golf course with many different looks with trees, bunkers, water hazards all intermixed to create a nice amount of shot variety. Off the Tee the fairways were fairly wide and nicely framed by Trees, bunkers or water. A well placed tee shots was rewarded while shots to the wrong side of the Fairway or in the rough (or waste areas) had to deal with overhanging trees, tough angles to the green or shots over a variety of hazards. The greens were generous with many Pin locations which could impact the challenge of the holes quite a bit. The greens were protected by well placed bunkers, trees that would catch the slightly errant shot and the occasional water hazard. There were a nice combination of short, medium and long holes moving from both Right to Left and Left tonight. Very little to no elevation changes (Low Country). Course conditioning was excellent from with the Tees very level, the fairways were in great shape and the Greens were quick-ish and true and the bunkers were very consistent."

“Old Tabby Links is set on the very private and secluded Spring Island, a nature preserve and truly spectacular place. The course was built in the 1990s by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay and is considered one of their best designs. It is a difficult and big course with a tight, tree-lined front 9 and more open, sandy back 9. The closing stretch is extremely unique and memorable with holes such as the 180 yard 17th featuring water on both sides of a narrow green and gorgeous views of the surrounding marshlands. The whole vibe is peaceful and tranquil, and you'll no doubt see plenty of wildlife here as you find yourself immersed in nature. This course doesn't get much exposure or play but an invite to a day at Spring Island is to be cherished."

“This Arnold Palmer designed course situated on Spring Island meanders through oak trees and marshland providing a pristine but rustic golfing experience. Because of the trees, vegetation and marshlands, each hole appears separated from the rest of the course. The par 4s in particular provide varying distances and challenges increasing the unique nature of each hole. Water hazards come into play throughout the course, especially on the par 3s. The course has been carefully designed to blend into the natural surroundings on this unique island. The greens are relatively large putting a premium on approach accuracy to lower scoring. The ninth hole as well as the three finishing holes have views of the marshland and Port Royal Sound. The 17th hole stands out as the most challenging par 3 on the course with a narrow green and hazards on either side. In summary, the golfing experience is enhanced by the superior aesthetics and character of this low country golf course."

“Very cool spot. Its a private area on a private island. They have community garden and hunts. Great contrast between long and short holes. If you have a hole that favors a fade, the next one would favor a draw. It's a great place to spend a day!"

“#17 is one of the best par threes anywhere. The setting on Spring Island is special too. Tough course!"
