“The "Fork" is a quirky and fun course on the east end of Long Island. The front 9 and back 9 were designed years apart but still work really well together. The course has worked with different routing options, but as of this review the first tee starts at the clubhouse by the pond. The front is fairly flat and open. There are options galore on the front nine. A reachable par 4 and for the real big hitters a reachable par 5. It isn't overly long on this side but requires a driver on a few holes, especially on a windy day. The back 9 is where it gets fun. None of the holes are long, but there are nearly as many options as clubs in your bag on how to play each hole. 18 is one of the hardest finishing holes around. A 220 yard par 3 with a massive trench running through the green. There is also out of bounds and a horse farm to the right that seems to be a magnet for balls. Par is a great score here. The downside, is that the conditioning is not at the same as in the past. The fairways and greens run on the slow to very slow side. It makes the course much more manageable given the undulations on each green, especially on the back if that is what you are looking for. After the round be sure to grab lunch or dinner at the restaurant. The food is superb, and rivals any restaurant in the area."
