Overview
Wolf Creek is a fantasy calendar come to life, with holes clinging to stark canyon hillsides and plunging down narrow ravines. A genuine amateur architect design (although Jim Engh provided an early routing), Wolf Creek finished third in Golf Digest's survey of America's Best New Upscale Public Courses of 2001, behind Pacific Dunes and Arcadia Bluffs (Bluffs). All three are now ranked among America's 100 Greatest Public Courses.

“One of the most wild layouts anyone can play. The views are amazing, not the greatest conditioned however it must be very difficult with the desert conditioning and the ability to get into the fairways. Unlike any other course I have ever played. Very unique."

“Wolf Creek is a feat of architecture and construction that sends the player across, over, around, and through one of the game's most severe sites. The routing may be nearly unwalkable but presents epic drop shots and long views that must be seen to be believed. Playing surfaces have some interesting contours but there is nothing natural about Wolf Creek. It is what it is: a must-see adventure that won't challenge the merits of a Top 100 design but which stands out as a uniquely wild and fun experience."

“Wolf Creek shined in terms of aesthetics with beautiful vistas throughout along with challenge, as many holes required exacting shots, otherwise balls were lost out of play or found the many water hazards throughout the property."

“A very unique course design with big boulders, ravines, elevation changes, and steep cart paths."

“Simply remarkable views. It's built perfectly into the landscape. It's hard to not cancel your next game and come back to play it again."

“Squalid condition. Dead patches of grass in several areas around the greens and bunkers and off the fairway. Greens rolled fine (with a few spots where grass was a bit patchy) but fairly slow. Fairly shocking that a course that charges $350 for a round of golf could be in that type of condition (and also provide the most inexpensive carts w/no back cover that 90+ percent of carts have...tough when it rains!). The condition of the cart does not impact the review, but incredibly disappointing to see the state of public golf where an otherwise amazing piece of property and design is so diminished by sub-par conditioning. I'm sure when the course was first opened over a decade ago, things were great in this department. As bad as the conditioning is, the design concept is that impressive. The massive elevation shift is something that should truly be applauded. And interestingly, it never feels "forced" with perhaps the exception on the par 3 third hole where the elevation shift up hill from the blue tees is pretty dramatic. From a design perspective of the hole strategy etc, there are not many holes that really require to think much with noted exceptions of the drivable par 4 7th and the 17th hole. 17 is probably the best hole on the course from a strategy perspective and really offers fantastic risk reward and good birdie look to the player who can pull off two solid (not exceptional...just solid) shots."

“Tremendous challenge that does feel "video game like". The course conditions could have been better, but the course still shows a great feat in golf architecture."

“Wolf Creek is one of those courses you have to experience. It's a huge challenge to know which lines to take off the tee with all of the elevation changes. Best to play it early in the fall when it comes out of over-seeding."

“Spectacular views all around. Very unique setting, worth the 1.5 hour drive if you are staying in Vegas. Challenging course!"
