Overview
Adjacent to Mauna Kea Golf Course (a current Second 100 Greatest member), the Arnold Palmer-designed Hapuna Golf Course opened in 1992 and features dramatic elevation changes. As many holes play on an exposed hillside overlooking the Pacific, strong winds are often present and make the course play quite difficult. There is a blend of downhill and uphill holes, with the downhill holes offering fantastic ocean views.

“Beautiful setting. The holes that play downhill toward the ocean are excellent, and not just because of the view, while the uphill holes are often just okay."

“If headed to Mauna Kea, make sure to also play Hapuna. It definitely exceeded my expectations -- good solid golf holes with some amazing views from higher on the hill."

“Folks like to denigrate this course, but I think it is fun. I have played it three times. Each time the wind has blown hard. I'd like to see what it is like on a calm day, because in the wind it is a beast. The terrain is rolling and the greens are interesting."

“Good Palmer layout with a few very tight holes. Can be very difficult, especially in windy conditions."
