Overview
Situated on the southern coast of Kauai, The Club at Kukui’ula is a Tom Weiskopf design built on a former sugar cane plantation. Though the Pacific Ocean doesn’t come into play, it is visible from nearly every hole. The fairways are generally wide, but massive white-sand bunkers line many holes.

“A private Weiskopf design located in the Poipu area on Kauai. Built around some beautiful homes, this course is very spacious and tropically lush. Wide open fairways and large greens make it very playable from every tee box. For the longer hitters, the risk reward is much more intense as the penalty areas will take a toll on misplayed shots. Because of the normal costal weather, the fairways are typically soft and do not roll out. Mud on your ball is common, even during the hottest summer months. Mr. Weiskopf did a nice job on the routing and the course is walkable. The club however would prefer that you NOT walk the course as they strive for a maximum playing time of 3 hours and 30 minutes. The greens are maintained to a slower rating of 8.5-9. This is done as a protection from the weather (sun and wind), but the roll is true and they are consistent around the course. Beautiful bunkering highlights many holes with narrow fingerlings extending into and around the numerous traps. If you are unfortunate enough to find one of these sand-filled fingerlings, take your medicine and move along as the stances available do not make for a positive scoring opportunity. I found the course to be very playable especially due to its nice conditioning. The character and challenge was less than I had hoped for but all in all, KuKuiula is a solid Hawaiian golf experience."

“The golf course at Kukui'ula is good, however the overall experience is terrific. Great staff, wonderful facilities, and an amazing practice range. Well worth the visit if you can get on while in the Poipu area."
