Frickin' Laser Beams
Don't care if this throw is against air, Zach Wilson is the next Patrick Mahomes confirmed
One of the most insufferable parts of NFL Draft SZN is player comps. Every big-arm quarterback is the next Aaron Rodgers, every speedy slot receiver is the next Tyreek Hill and every edge rusher is the next Lawrence Taylor. It's a very foolish game, particularly for a guy like LT. NO one EVER will be like LT.
Hell, the same could be said for Rodgers and Hill. These are one-of-a-kind players, and comparing any college kid to them is A. putting unnecessary pressure on them, and B. more-than-likely inaccurate.
But screw that. We live in a hot takes world, and today's hot take of the day is ... Zach Wilson is the next Patrick Mahomes, confirmed:
Good GRIEF. That is an absolute laser beam, with the added difficult of him falling away to the left and throwing it back across the field. Oh, it's against air? Don't caaaaaaaare. Wilson = Mahomes, period stop.
OK, all kidding aside, this is still a wildly impressive throw, and one that could have a lot to do with all the offseason happenings on Friday. With Trevor Lawrence locked in to the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 1 already, it's now either the Wilson or Justin Fields sweepstakes for the likes of the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers. Of course, both NYJ and SF could stick with their guys in Sam Darnold and Jimmy Garoppolo, too. Both franchises are now in position to nab a Wilson or a Fields, or move back in the draft and receive a haul from another QB-needy team. This is the stuff that makes the NFL Draft so compelling.
That said, it's going to be a tough sell to the Jets or 49ers fanbases to pass on this dude, even if his stiffest competition was Coastal Carolina:
A true sling show. By the way, we made the Mahomes comparison MONTHS ago. All credit to us.
