'He ran over me with a semi 14 times': Wyndham Clark's caddie hilariously recalls time Clark threw him under the bus at Players Championship

Most will remember Wyndham Clark's VIOLENT lip-out on the 72nd green at TPC Sawgrass earlier this season as the shot that cost Clark the Players Championship. But it was a shot from a day earlier that Clark likely lost way more sleep over.

It came on the famous island green 17th, where Clark and his caddie John Ellis decided to "take a little off a wedge." What happened next was something you'd see from a 15-handicapper during their first trip to Sawgrass:

Not long after hitting this shot, Clark met with the media Saturday evening outside the TPC Sawgrass clubhouse, and he delivered one of the most unintentionally hilarious quotes when talking about he and Ellis' discussion on the 17th tee.

"I mean, I'm not throwing John under the bus by any means, but it was probably a perfect sand wedge," Clark said. "He thought if I nuked it, it could get on top. Kind of, as we were walking to put the ball down, he's like, 'Let's take a little off a full sand wedge.' As I was over the ball I kind of got to the top and I was like, take a little off and then I just kind of deceled and chunked it. It wasn't really a lack of focus or anything. It just was honestly a poor swing."

Ahh, the classic "I'm not throwing anyone under the bus... BUT..." A tale as old as time.

Ahead of the U.S. Open, where Clark is the defending champion, Ellis joined us on The Loop podcast and we had to ask him about this legendary under-the-bus-throwing from his boss man. Ellis admitted he gave Clark plenty of s--t in return:
