The fifth annual American Express Women's Golf Month officially gets underway at 3 p.m. this afternoon with a big kick-off event at Tiffany Greens Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo. The nationwide initiative, which drew 68,000 participants last year and is organized by American Express, the PGA of America, the EWGA, the LPGA, the NGCOA and the GCSAA, is designed to bring more women to the golf course during the month of June, and hopefully help get them hooked on the game.

Some 1,200 courses across the country have signed up to participate this year, and while each is required to offer at least one free clinic for women over the age of 14, some go so far as to host luncheons and networking receptions, hold rules seminars, put on fashion shows and offer free on-course playing lessons. To find a participating golf facility in your area, log on to this site and type in your city and state.
