Why Jason Day's wife has him sleeping out in the driveway(?!) this week during the Memorial

Forget the couch, Jason Day has been banished to the driveway by his wife this week. But, no, the 13-time PGA Tour winner is not in the doghouse.

Day explained the unusual situation on the eve of the Memorial Tournament, where he has a home game living only a 30-minute drive from Muirfield Village. And it actually makes sense. Kind of.

You see, Day usually travels and stays in an RV during PGA Tour events. And because he's never gotten the ol' "sleeping in his own bed" bump that others have for some reason, his wife, Ellie, has him switching things up.

"Thirty-minute drive, not too bad," Day told Ron Green on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio. "I am staying in my bus. In my driveway, though."

"Staying in your bus, in your driveway?" Green followed up. "Is there a story behind that? A reason behind that?"

"No, so my wife suggested it," Day replied. "In the past, I've had some poor results here and she's like, 'I think you're too relaxed and you're out of, you know, structure. And you need to treat it as a tournament week.' So we have a spot where we park our bus in the driveway and, yeah, I'm staying there."

Pretty wild. But hey, this sleep experiment can't hurt. Day's disappointing record in this event includes just one top 10 and two top 25s in 14 career starts. And that top 10, a T-4 in 2020 came during a weird Covid part of the season.

Anyway, if Day's kids need him during the night, daddy will be outside in the driveway. And if Jason needs a mid-night snack, he's just a short walk away from his kitchen.
