Watch The Mountain from 'Game of Thrones' deadlift more than 1,000 pounds

February 15, 2018

Hafþór Björnsson—better known as Gregor Clegane (AKA "The Mountain") on Game of Thrones—is a strong man. One of the world's strongest, in fact. But in addition to being really good at picking things up and putting them down, he's also pretty savvy on the ol' Instagram, documenting his feats of ridiculous strength with a brutality befitting his native Iceland. Just watch this video of him fighting a massive rock for 90 seconds if you don't believe us:

As mesmerizing/terrifying as that is, however, it pales in comparison to Björnsson's own personal white whale—a 1,0003-pound dead lift—which he pulled off with a little help from like a half Morton's box worth of smelling salts and the wolf-horde encouragement of his fellow Vikings-in-arms. Needless to say, this one is not for the faint of heart or weak of limb.

Incredibly enough, Björnsson only managed a second-place finish at last year's World's Strongest Man competition, but if these latest ancient gladiator trials are any indication, he looks poised to top the chalk-covered, beet-faced, bald-headed heap in 2018.
