    The chaos is back.

After last year’s muted event—COVID-19 restrictions forcing a reduced gallery—the traditionally raucous Waste Management Phoenix Open will return to full roar this week with a loaded field set to play TPC Scottsdale.

Brooks Koepka, a two-time winner of the event, returns to defend his 2021 title. Joining him are World No. 1 Jon Rahm, FedEx Cup champ Patrick Cantlay, current Cup leader Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth, Viktor Hovland, Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele.

A year ago, Koepka started the final round five shots back of Schuaffele and Spieth but rallied on Sunday. A chip-in for eagle on the par-4 17th and a par save on the final hole gave him a one-stroke victory after posting a closing 65. If Koepka or Matsuyama were to win this week, they would become the fifth player in tournament history to win three times in Phoenix.

Players making their 2022 PGA Tour debuts include Bubba Watson and Louis Oosthuizen. Watson hasn’t teed off in a PGA Tour event since The Northern Trust in August, but is coming off a runner-up showing at last week’s Saudi Invitational. Meanwhile, this is Oosthuizen’s first start since withdrawing from the RSM Classic in November.

The winner will receive 500 FedEx Cup points and a $1.476 million share of the $8.2 million purse.
