The dude who denied this girl of a mid-game kiss won the college football weekend

November 01, 2021

In a sentence we never imagined we'd type, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are currently on top of the college football world. Well, not the very top, but they did crack the AP Top 10 for the first time in program history on Sunday (they're ranked 10th), and their former running back Kenneth Walker is now a Heisman frontrunner over at Michigan State. So, yeah, everything is coming up Deacs.

But the job is far from done, with three road games at North Carolina, Clemson and Boston College still on the schedule, plus one home game against N.C. State in between. Considering how bad Clemson has looked, it's fair to assume that the Demon Deacons might be favored in all four remaining games. It's also fair to wonder which one they'll get caught sleeping in.

If everyone—coaches, players, and fans—remains focused, they won't get caught sleeping in any of them. Yes, we said fans, too. Fans like this dude who won the college football weekend on Saturday at Truist Field, where ESPN cameras locked in on he and a lovely young female who was locking eyes with him late in the third quarter. Even with his Deacs up 35-0 over Duke and the game clearly in hand, he remained focused, staring straight ahead as this girl went in for the kiss:

DENIED! To steal a line from the great Verne Lundqvist, in your LIFE have you ever seen anything like that? 99.9 percent of the time, the roles in this situation are reversed, with the guy going in for the kiss and the girl dodging it. To see this go the other way is legtiaimtely shocking, on Halloween weekend, no less! Love is always in the air at every college campus in America on Halloween weekend, and this dude straight up said no thank you, I'm good. I pray these two aren't an actual couple, because if so, nearly 3 million people have now watched this girl swing and miss on a mid-game kiss, which would lead one to believe that they are definitely not a couple anymore.

Helmet Stickers

(In this section, we'll dole out helmet stickers for those who *almost* won the weekend.)

Five Helmet Stickers: Steve Spurrier in disguise

The ol' ball coach was in Jacksonville on Saturday for the Georgia-Florida game, formerly known as the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail party. It is among the best tailgate scenes in college football, but one Spurrier, a Gators legend, can't simply stroll around at without getting mobbed. So he went in disguise, and claimed the disguise worked so well that he went unnoticed for the most part:

Legend. Spurrier, of course, got his head coaching start at Duke, but nobody remembers his coaching career for anything he did in Durham. Hence why no one noticed him moseying around in disguise while they shotgunned Bud Lights and sipped on some homemade moonshine.

Four Helmet Stickers: Isaac Slade-Matautia

The SMU linebacker was on the wrong end of a stunning 44-37 loss at Houston, ending the Mustangs' bid for an undfeated season. A shame, really, because this was one of the best defensive plays of the year and it may very well be forgotten:

The true upset of the weekend in college football was this being legal. Seems there is a flag for literally everything defensive players do these days. Thankfully that was not the case here.

Three Helmet Stickers: This effin' guy

That effin' guy is Michigan defensive assisstant coach Ryan Osborn, and this is he and the rest of the boys in Blue doing one of those post-touchdown team photo celebrations after Michigan's first touchdown against Michigan State on Saturday. For the sake of preserving all that's good about this clip, we won't remind Michigan fans what happened next.

Two Helmet Stickers: Ken Jeong

To be honest, when Jeong was announced as the College Gameday guest picker (because he's from Detroit??) I sort of rolled my eyes. His time in Hollywood seems to have passed, and no one is clamoring for more Ken Jeong content. I wound up being very wrong because this was an all-time Gameday clip:

Apparently, this is a joke Jeong used in his most recent standup special, so he's tested it out before and it definitely slaps. Also, that is actually his wife's name - Tran Jeong Ho. Perfect joke. Perfect delivery. More Ken Jeong content please!

Negative 5 billion Helmet Stickers/expulsion from school: All of these Michigan State kids

The lowest form of human right here. GENIUS move to look directly into the camera, by the way. Also love the dude stepping in to try and stop it long after the car had been tipped over and the windshield had been kicked in. Reminds me of that GIF of the guy trying to sweep up the ocean with a broom. Solid D- for effort there guy.
