TravisMathew's second collaboration with St Andrews gives tartan a cool, modern upgrade
There’s something inherently satisfying about tartan, the crisscross weave humans have been sporting for centuries—since its birth in Scotland some 3,000 years B.C. So it’s fitting that for their second collection together, TravisMathew and St Andrews Links would return to the heritage fabric, infusing classic silhouettes with a contemporary upgrade. And for the hardcore highland enthusiasts, rest assured the collection’s signature plaid, the St Andrews Links by TravisMathew Tartan, has even been authenticated by the Scottish Register of Tartan.
In the old-meets-new, limited-edition collection, the California-based lifestyle company and the iconic “Home of Golf” teamed for a suite of polos, T-shirts, hoodies, button downs, hats and accessories ranging from golf gloves to belts, all in a streamlined palette of stormy gray, timeless black and rich navy. Each item pays homage to the collaborating brands in creative ways, whether it’s the St Andrews Links seal on the left chest of the quarter zip, or the abstracted TM logo bedecked in plaid. The tartan was designed using the core, monochromatic colors of TravisMathew bended with sand to stand for the St Andrews influence, which also happens to be a nice nod to the fact that both of these companies embody the best vibes of coastal golf. The result is a fashion-forward capsule with nods to street style and iconic golf motifs. Here are our favorite looks from the collection:

If one item were to embody the second collaborative collection's core philosophy, it might be this color-blocked polo. A little bit of dressed-up tee shirt energy, plus a little bit of kilt (thanks to the tartan pattern on the body) makes this the perfect visual metaphor for old meets new.
