Tour Championship tickets on secondary market are up 170 percent from 2017. Take a shot in the dark why

The Tour Championship tees off next week at East Lake, and while the season finale usually attracts the game's best, this year has an added bonus for fans in the Atlanta area: one Tiger Woods will be on the premises. The 42-year-old is capping off his triumphant return to the sport with his first start at East Lake since 2013. And, judging by the secondary ticket market, Tigermania is alive and well in Georgia.
According to Vivid Seats, the average price for a single-day Tour Championship pass is up 170 percent from the 2017 event. Similarly, visits to Vivid's Tour Championship page have seen a 65 percent bump. Although the sport's line of starpower has never been deeper, it's clear that Woods—with TV ratings and attendance marks as barometers—is the catalyst for this boom.
If those soaring Vivid Seat prices have you worried, fear not. There are still tickets and passes available through the PGA Tour, with college students able to gain entry for $30.
Woods will begin next week's championship 20th in the FedEx Cup standings. He is a two-time winner of the FedEx Cup.
