Cat Cow

Tony Romo doing yoga poses during a golf match made for an unintentionally hilarious video

While the rise of Dak Prescott certainly played a role in Tony Romo's retirement, ultimately it was a number of back injuries that began to stack up that forced the Dallas Cowboys legend to hang 'em up. Oddly enough, Romo began immersing himself in the next-worst sport on your back: golf.

Of course, the pain is much more manageable out on the links than between the lines of an NFL field. The physical punishment is self-inflicted in golf, and the reward is always worth the risk. In football, it's quite literally the opposite.

Romo could be seen managing some serious pain on the course on Tuesday at the Wisconsin State Golf Association's Match Play Championship. After going 2-0 in his first two group-stage matches, Romo was 1 up after 13 holes against Sam Cianciolo, who had a par putt to halve the 14th hole on the Links Course at Lawsonia. As Cianciolo was lining up his putt, Romo could be seen doing the famous "cat cow" yoga pose just off the back left edge of the green. Credit to Rob Hernandez for pulling out his phone to capture video of the peculiar moment:

Nothing to see here. Just the Dallas Cowboys' all-time leading passer in yards and touchdowns, who now makes over $17 million to call NFL games, stretching out his back during an amateur match play tournament in Wisconsin while playing against some regular joe. Golf is funny like that.

Cianciolo, to his credit, bounced back after the short miss, making birdie on the next to cut Romo's lead back to 1 up. They halved 16 and 17 with pars before Romo closed it out with a birdie on 18, going 3-0-0 in the group stage and advancing to the knockout bracket. As of now, Romo is tied through five holes of his Round of 16 match against Adam Miller. No word on how the back is holding up, yet.
