Teen phenom's dad/caddie produces happiest reaction of the DP World Tour season

April 28, 2023

We suspect golf fans are going to learn a lot more about Wenyi Ding in the coming years, but here's what we know so far. The teen phenom became the first Chinese golfer to win a USGA championship at last year's U.S. Junior, and he's more than holding his own in cameos on the DP World Tour. Oh, yeah, his dad also loves watching him play.

That last part isn't surprising, of course, but in the limited amount that we've seen the rising star, dad Feng has always been right by his side. And if you're a parent, good luck not getting emotional watching him get emotional after witnessing his son make history at Bandon Dunes last summer.

Oh, man. That's the good stuff right there. But we were treated to more of it from this father-son combo on Friday at the DP World Tour's Korea Championship, where Wenyi easily made the cut for the third time in three tries on that circuit. And after the 18-year-old amateur—who tied for 23rd heading into the weekend after a second-round 69—made one par putt in particular, Feng, who is on the bag for Wenyi this week, let loose in celebration:

What a fantastic reaction. And here's another angle. Well, another angle of Feng:

It's possible no one has ever been more thrilled—and proud—about a made putt in golf history. You love to see it.

"Ah, he lives and dies, doesn't he?" the commentator says in the clip. "Look at him go? Isn't it great?"

Indeed, it is. Just pace yourself, Feng. At this rate, you probably have a few more decades of this to look forward to.
