Sony Open tee times moved up due to forecast

January 16, 2021

Weather trouble in paradise? It happens even in Hawaii.

The PGA Tour is being forced to move up the tee times for Sunday’s final round of the Sony Open in Hawaii due to a forecast of heavy rain showers late on Sunday afternoon. The tour didn’t want to take a chance of going into Monday, because the weather is supposed to be bad then, too.

Tee times have been moved up two hours and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., local time. The round will be televised live on the Golf Channel from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. ET.

The first two rounds were notable for their lack of wind, and the temperature has been predictably been in the 70s and 80s.
