Report: Tiger Woods, EA Sports 'discontinuing relationship'

October 28, 2013

Tiger Woods has played only one round of competitive golf since the Presidents Cup, but he's managed to keep his name in the headlines.

First, there was the chatter over Brandel Chamblee's insinuation that Woods cheated during the 2013 season. And just when that seems to be dying down, it appears as though the World No. 1 has lost one of his biggest sponsors. On Monday afternoon, Eric Fisher of Sports Business Journal reported that EA Sports and Woods have parted ways:

Not only had the Tiger Woods golf video game franchise been a mainstay for gamers, but the collaboration also led to the production of some fantastic commercials. Just this year, the company came up with, "The Rumble," in which Woods, Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino fight off ruffians looking to take their trophies:

There are no details yet on which players, if any, will be involved in the new, 'next-gen' game, but we'll assume Palmer and Trevino won't make the cut.
