Peyton Manning, John Elway shine in new BMW Championship commercial

September 06, 2013

Peyton Manning showed no off-season rust during an incredible seven-touchdown performance in the opening game of the NFL season on Thursday night. It appears as though the Denver Broncos quarterback hasn't lost his touch when it comes to making commercials as well.

Long considered a funny pitch man for a variety of products, Manning has applied those comedic talents to the world of golf with a humorous ad campaign for next year's BMW Championship. The third tournament of the FedEx Cup Playoffs will be held at Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver, Colo. in 2014 and the event enlisted some of its hometown stars to start building the buzz a year in advance.

In the commercial, Manning is joined by former Broncos players John Elway (The hall-of-famer is now the team's executive vice president of football operations) and John Lynch, as well as by NBA player Chauncey Billups, a Denver native who played five seasons for the Denver Nuggets. The premise is that all four athletes are taking a course on how to be an on-course marshall in order to get into the tournament:

This year's BMW will be held at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill., beginning next Thursday. But something tells us we shouldn't expect to see Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan holding up any "Quiet Please" signs.
