Paul Bissonnette on the Michael Jordan golf rival we don't know about, plus The Match preview and picks
Ben Jackson
Paul Bissonnette is a very, very busy man. That's exactly how he likes it. The self-described "media whore" is constantly on the go, juggling a number of duties including co-hosting the wildly popular Spittin Chiclets podcast and serving as a key personality on the NHL on TNT desk.
This Monday, Bissonnette, AKA "Biz," will try something new—calling golf. The former NHL enforcer-turned-media sensation is part of a crew that includes DJ Khaled and Charles Barkley, among others, who will be behind the microphone for the ninth edition of Capital One's The Match, featuring Rory McIlroy, Max Homa, Lexi Thompson and Rose Zhang. The primetime, under-the-lights event will be a skins format.
Biz, who joined us for a bonus episode of The Loop podcast to preview The Match, says he's not entirely sure what his role is yet for Monday. All he knows is that he'll be in a cart with DJ Khaled, which should make for some highly entertaining television.
"I'm just looking forward to getting a lot of personality out of these guys and girls before they hit the course," Bissonnette said.
"Maybe as they warm up, kind of insert some humor in. I don't know how seriously Rory McIlroy takes himself, but I'm just pumped to get to know these people and have some laughs on the golf course."
Providing laughs comes very easy to Bissonnette, who quickly became one of our favorite interviews ever in our 30-plus minute chat. He had some great stories involving Michael Jordan and his friend Wayne Gretzky, including one about the Great One's wife, Janet, who is apparently a stick on the golf course.
