You may have thought the U.S. Open and its labyrinth of storylines—from the immediate reintroduction of the LIV Golf guys to Rory’s early charge to Boston this and Boston that—would be the talk of the golf town on Thursday. And for the most part it was, but an unexpected contender for golf’s attention and eyeballs during emerged round 1. Her name? Paige Spiranac.

Perhaps you’ve heard of her.

On Thursday, Spiranac was named Maxim's World's Sexiest Woman. Spiranac has been fixture in the golf world, both as a player and personality, since 2015, but Maxim’s accolade—and a coveted spot the cover of Maxim’s “Hot 100” issue—represents an even broader breakthrough for the former San Diego State women’s golf team captain turned “world’s most followed golfer.”

Spiranac sat down with Maxim to discuss the honor, speaking candidly about being bullied as a child, burning out on golf, and her ideal partner (nudge, nudge fellas). It’s as human a look as you’ll get of a person just named “world’s sexiest,” confirming that while it may look easy, it isn’t always. Give it a read and do your best to not just gawk at the photos … not that Spiranac would mind. That’s kind of the idea, after all. This is her life now and, as she told Maxim, she “wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
