With its history and traditions, there is something altogether unique about playing in the Open Championship. Now crank that up to 11 and you’ll get the feeling of anticipation for being a participant in The 150th Open set to take place at St. Andrews.

The R&A has been planning for the championship for years. When the pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 Open, officials juggled the schedule to be certain the 150th would still take place at the Home of Golf, even if it came a year later than originally planned.

The R&A received more than 1.3 million ticket applications with a record-breaking 290,000 fans expected to attend during the July 10-17 week, passing the previous high mark set at the 2000 Open.

To be a golfer in the field, there were 41 different criteria for entry with three spots up for grabs at the Scottish Open (won by Kurt Kitsuyama, Brandon Wu and Jamie Donaldson) and one more at the Barbasol Championship (grabbed by winner Trey Mullinax).

Below is the field as it stands after the end of play at the Scottish Open and Barbasol Championship.
