These Guys Are Good

It may be a new year, but the PGA Tour still has the same old Driver-off-the-Deck King

January 11, 2024

Time is a flat circle. At least when it comes to Si Woo Kim hitting the flattest shot in golf.

The four-time PGA Tour winner also happens to be pro golf's Driver-off-the-Deck King (we added "pro" there because amateur Carter Smith claims that title on Instagram). Don't believe us? Well, the tour put out this video on the eve of the Sony Open, which includes the famed one he hit during the final round of the 2017 Players on his way to winning the biggest title of his career:

That's absolutely filthy stuff from Si Woo. And on Day 1 of the tournament, the 28-year-old wasted little time making his latest daring attempt. Have a look at Kim cracking a low, low burner for his second shot on the par-5 18th at Waialae Country Club:

Great timing from the tour's social media team! This wasn't Si Woo's best, but it got the job done, leaving him just off the green. Although moments later, Kim's putter let him down for birdie from six feet.

Anyway, the defending Sony Open champ is off to another solid start in Hawaii. And while it may be a new year, there's still the same old DOD King on the PGA Tour. Long live the King.
