Former tour pro Randy Watkins, already the owner of two courses in Mississippi, is angling to buy a third, reports the Clarionledger.com. The course is Caroline Golf Club in Madison, Miss., closed since 2007.

The bank holding its note bought the course for $2.5 million on Monday. But Watkins, who briefly played on the PGA Tour in the 1990s, appears to have an interest in buying it. He owns Whisper Lake Country Club in Madison and Patrick Farms (which he designed) in Jackson, according to Clarionledger.com.

The Caroline course has at least one other interested party: Rhett Crowder, a multi-time State Am champion He's said to be working on a bid with real estate developer Tom Hixon.
