Michelle Wie West reveals new baby on the way and Taylor Swift theory on 'The Tonight Show'
Michelle Wie West has been in the public eye since she qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship all the way back in 2000. Yes, you’re old. For over two decades, she’s been a staple of the golf world and now there’ll be yet another Wie West progeny ready to take over golf before we know it.
During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday, Wie West discussed a bevy of topics, but none more important than the announcement she made in front of the 30 Rock audience.
“We have Baby No. 2 coming,” the 2014 U.S. Women's Open winner announced. That baby hasn’t even been born yet and it's already been on ‘The Tonight Show’ more than almost all of us.
“My daughter [Makenna] is so excited,” she continued. “She is telling everyone way before we told anyone else. Her teacher called us over and was like ‘Oh, can I talk to you for a second?’ And she was like, ‘Are you…?’ Because, you know. We did IVF this time and she kept going, ‘Oh, my parents are going to L.A. to get the baby.’”
Fallon, in classic Fallon fashion, treats this anecdote as if Wie West is George Carlin throwing out zingers, but, to be fair, it is a very cute tale.
Along with the upcoming family addition, Wie West also discussed her Taylor Swift interaction during Super Bowl LVII. After the game, Wie West discovered, at the same time as everyone else, that Taylor Swift was wearing a bracelet from her jewelry line as she celebrated boyfriend Travis Kelce's big win.
Although she doesn’t “really care about football,” very few had a bigger Super Bowl than Wie West after she saw the legend rocking her design. “I was like, ‘Oh my God!’,” she recalled. Her husband had thought something bad had happened, but Wie West explained. “I was like, ‘Taylor Swift is wearing my bracelet!' It was just like the craziest thing.”
Many speculated on what the bracelet's "TNT" letters meant, but Wie West believes they most likely stood for “Travis ‘n Taylor,” as she explained to Fallon and Swifties everywhere.
That’s quite the 1-2 punch of stories for Wie West. We wonder if she’s playing “The Tortured Poets Department” for her child in the womb. Feels like a good way to tie all of this together.
