Max Homa delivered yet another unlikely moment at Riviera's iconic 10th hole

We would imagine stepping on the tee at Riviera Country Club’s famous 10th hole gives Max Homa a special feeling. His signature victory on the PGA Tour came here at the Genesis Invitational in 2021, when he outlasted Tony Finau in a two-hole sudden-death playoff. That playoff, of course, took place at the most famous drivable par 4 on tour—and Homa’s heroics delivered one of the most clutch performances of the season.

Further proof of Homa’s success at the 10th hole came on Thursday in the first round of the Genesis Invitational. The California native found himself short-sided and attempted to hit a big-time flop shot to this skinny little 3,500-square-foot green that’s only 10 feet wide. Little margin for error, and Homa ended up dumping the flop into the greenside bunker.

Of course, you can imagine what Homa did next:

For comparison, here was the insanely clutch chip Homa played in that playoff against Finau.

The flair for the dramatic is real when Homa steps foot on this Hollywood haunt. Remember how Homa missed a little three-footer in regulation in 2021, which would’ve given him the victory? He just wanted to make things interesting.

It’s obvious he has the ability to dial up the drama when he arrives at the 10th hole.

Let’s hope there’s some more fun in store with him there come the weekend.
