Max Homa delivers quote of the year regarding his 'different' Ryder Cup putt (And it's definitely NSFW)

October 05, 2023

Max Homa was the lone bright spot for Team USA during their latest loss to Europe in the Ryder Cup, recording the squad's only winning record and producing its two best highlights of the week. The first, a walk-off chip in that gave the Americans their first full point on Friday, and the second, a gutsy up and down on Sunday to make things interesting. At least, for another few minutes.

It's that second highlight that we're highlighting today after Homa did an amazing job trying to explain what the moment felt like on the latest edition of the No Laying Up podcast. In the immediate aftermath of the putt, cameras caught him saying, "You see my legs shaking?" to caddie Joe Greiner. And Homa wasn't kidding.

"I've never dreamt of making a putt to not lose the Ryder Cup. That was a very different feeling," Homa told NLU. "And I had such a good week, personally, on the golf course that I knew I would be labeled a 'choker' and it just didn't feel like a fair thing, but I remember I really turned my brain on. 'You wanted this. This is a very cool opportunity,' but I lost full control of my body. I can't believe watching it that you can't see my legs shaking. I couldn't feel anything. Like my legs were like full-blown vibrating. Like I had 50 phones tied to my legs and everyone was calling me. It was wild."

What an amazing description. But despite that weird feeling, Homa DID make the putt. And he provided a little commentary on that as well. If you're a kid, you just might want to put on your earmuffs! Take it away, Max!

"I watched it again last night and I don't know how I made it," Homa continues. "But that mother------ was right in the goddamn middle. Like it was the best putt ever."

Woo! Again, great stuff. And great putt. And coming through in that moment should only help Homa in his career going forward, including the next Ryder Cup. Whoever the next American captain is at Bethpage Black in a couple years can only hope it's Homa facing a putt to WIN next time.
