21 maternity-friendly golf pieces to wear this season

If you’re pregnant and got the all-clear from your doctor to play golf during your pregnancy, you might be at that point of wondering what exactly you should wear. I ran into this while playing golf pregnant, first being so grateful to be able to keep playing golf and then soon realizing there weren’t many obvious maternity golf clothes out there. I tried out a lot of clothes, happy to find options I already owned worked well for early pregnancy, and then leaned on performance apparel from non-golf brands and a few golf-specific ones once the bump got bigger. Below are some maternity golf options that you might not have heard or thought of, that will hopefully make your pregnant golf journey just a little bit easier.

Pants & Shorts

The waistband is forgiving on these, leaving space for your bump to grow during the first and second trimesters. I found in the pants version of these that getting a size bigger than my usual and wearing them under-bump worked for the third trimester as well.

Joggers on the golf course aren't for everyone, but if they fit your aesthetic, they can be a great option for golf during pregnancy. This lightweight pair from Vuori comes in three colors with a flexible waistband that will get you through the first two trimesters.

Nike released a maternity activewear line a few years ago and while there aren't golf-specific options in the line, there are performance pieces that work for golf. These leggings, for example, can be worn either under or over the bump, so they'll work during and after pregnancy. Note: they don't have pockets.

These lack back pockets, but are a comfortable option that'll fit you through the third trimester.

The fabric is thick (in a good way) and comfortable. The over-the-bump coverage will support you all the way through your third trimester. Senita carries a lot of fun colors, and the friendly price point makes it easy to add a few pairs to your wardrobe. The side pockets are a nice addition.

As you can probably tell by now, avoiding buttons and zippers is the best way to get a good maternity fit. The stretchy band here works well in early pregnancy, and these shorts have a nice length.

Skirts & Dresses

Not having to deal with whether to tuck in a shirt is always welcome during pregnancy. This dress from Adidas is an easy way to throw something and look good in early pregnancy.

Old Navy's activewear line surprises on the upside, and that applies to their maternity activewear, too. It's hard to argue with the price point on this straightforward, over the bump skort.

With a wide band to go under your bump, this skirt will last from the first signs of your bump, through your third trimester.

In the first trimester and beginning of the second, I found golf dresses were a good way to handle first trimester bloating and the early second-trimester baby bump. The silhouette of this dress leaves enough room at the mid-section.

Sometimes a standard golf shirt is necessary. And it can be nice to wear something that doesn't overly accentuate your bump.

Hatch's high-qualify fabric makes its pieces a staple in any pregnant person's wardrobe. If you go through its website, you'll see some options that work for golf—like this pullover.

Two sisters, Anna and Kristen, created this company after Anna realized there weren't many good maternity golf clothing options. The company makes golf and tennis gear for pregnant women. This tank comes in an array of fun colors.

This shirt will cover all of your pregnancy activities: golf, hiking, biking, yoga, you name it. It's designed to perform on any adventure you wear it for.

The silhouette of this shirt fits a first and second trimester bump really well. The high-quality, stretchy fabric performs on-course and is so comfy you'll be wearing it off-course, too.

The genius of this jacket is in the side zippers. As you get bigger, unzip them more to accommodate your growing mid-section.

Admittedly not a 'golf' shirt, this shirt does work if you're at a course that doesn't require collared shirts in its dress code. Comfy cotton and a good fit make this a go-to off-course, as well.

This mockneck is versatile, breathable and has drop-shoulder sleeves for added mobility in the golf swing. It's made with a cozy cotton-blend fleece, has a roomy silhouette and side slits at the hem for an easy layering process.

The oversized fit of this sweater is perfect for a growing bump, and the classic Tory Burch styling makes this easy to pair with the rest of your wardrobe.
