Lexi Thompson broke one of those cool airplane tee markers at the ANA Inspiration (by accident)
Lexi Thompson got off to a strong start to the year's first major despite the fact she had to do a bit of damage control in the middle of her first round. Literally.
The ANA Inspiration is one of the biggest events of the golf calendar, but it also has some of the coolest tee markers in the game. Hopefully, the tournament has a few backups, though, because Thompson appeared to break one of those little airplanes after hitting her tee shot on the 11th hole at .
No, it wasn't out of rage. It was just an accident—and the 2014 winner of the event tried her best to put it back together. Here's a photo and video of the freakish occurrence from Shad Powers of The Desert Sun:
More importantly, Thompson wound up shooting an opening two-under-par 70 and is one of the early leaders.
So don't sweat it, Lexi. Those tee markers make for great marketing tools, but going viral for breaking one? Well, you can't pay for that kind of advertising.
