Keith Mitchell sends Cabo into a frenzy with walk-off ace at the World Wide Technology Championship celeb challenge
Someone call Sammy Hagar, because Cabo is ROCKING this morning. Late last night, while us East Coast old guys were dreaming of breaking 80, “Cashmere” Keith Mitchell delivered one of the great shots in celebrity golf pro-am history when he arrived on the final tee of the World Wide Technology Championship’s celeb challenge needing an ace to tie Team Harry Higgs for the win. You can probably guess what happened next.
Ladies and gentleman, we give you the Diamante Dart. Mitchell, in one of the clutchest displays since Michael Jordan in Game 6 of the ’98 NBA Finals, drained his shot, sparking a celebration that could be heard halfway to Hawaii. As MC Kelley James squealed “GIVE THE PEOPLE SOMETHING! GIVE THE PEOPLE SOMETHING!” into the mic, Mitchell hurled his trademark visor into the air like a graduation cap and raced toward the pin with his team in hot pursuit.
Perhaps the walk-off hole-in-one will help to get Mitchell’s bat going. The former Georgia Bulldog struggled on Thursday, firing a three-over 75. Another buzzer-beater ace might be too much to ask for, but if Mitchell wants to enjoy the Cabo weather this weekend, he’ll need to log an equally clutch performance on Friday.
