'Big Little Lies' star Kathryn Newton threw an absolute DART on Pebble Beach's famous par-3 17th

February 11, 2021

Six years ago, Golf Digest's Ron Kaspriske sat down for a Q&A with actress Kathryn Newton. At the time, Newton was 18 and still questioning whether she wanted to lean all the way into acting or play college golf. Since then she's starred in the HBO hit series "Big Little Lies," as well as an original Netflix series called "The Society" and a number of films. In other words, she made the right career choice.

But, Newton, now 24, still loves and plays the game regularly. The former standout high school golfer said one of her dreams was to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am some day in that same Q&A from 2015. She (sort of) got her wish on Wednesday, when Newton joined a number of celebrities, including Bill Murray and Larry Fitzgerald, in the AT&T Pro-Am Charity Challenge. Newton won't get the full Pro-Am experience, as amateurs are not playing this year due to COVID, but mixing it up with that crew is an awesome consolation.

At the par-3 17th, Newton showed off that serious game we've heard so much about with an absolute DART into the famous green. It just so happened that it was in a closest to the pin contest, too:

Wow, that swing was puuuuuure. Again, we knew she could ball, but that move and the five-footer it resulted in really drove the point home. Here's a compilation of a few more of her swings from the folks at Skratch:

What a clinic. If the whole acting thing doesn't work out (looks unlikely), she can always fall back on golf.
