Jonathan Byrd uses pushcart, "power stache" to Monday qualify for Korn Ferry Tour event

June 16, 2020

Jonathan Byrd rocked a "power stache" while making it through a Korn Ferry Tour Monday qualifier this week. When it came to carrying his golf clubs around the course, though, he provided all the power.

The five-time PGA Tour winner was the most accomplished golfer in the field on Monday, but he opted to use a pushcart instead of a caddie to get around the Palencia Club. It's not unheard of at a Monday qualifier, where players' budgets can be tight, but it was an unusual sight for a golfer with Byrd's resume.

But after Byrd fired 65 to share medalist honors and earn one of eight available spots in this week's King & Bear Classic, maybe we'll see a bit more of this going forward. Here was Byrd sharing the results of his day on social media:

That's a strong stache alright. Tom Selleck approves.

Byrd's last PGA Tour win came at the 2011 season-opener at Kapalua, but the 42-year-old's most recent pro win was the 2017 Korn Ferry Tour Championship. Needless to say, neither involved the use of a pushcart.
