This week, Jon Rahm shocked golf fans when he arrived at his U.S. Open press conference wearing one flip flop and limping noticeably. The 2021 U.S. Open champ revealed he had been dealing with an infection between his toes. A short while later, Rahm officially withdrew from Golf’s Greatest Test™.

Though Rahm hasn’t been a factor at the majors since his switch to LIV Golf, his absence left a void in the field. The big Spaniard was at Pinehurst in spirit, however, posting the following update from his couch on Thursday morning.

OK, so that paw looks pretty bad, but the rest of his setup in on point. Rahm has his feet up, U.S. Open coverage blasting and a little pick-me-up in his mug. Pretty relatable stuff, especially if he’s got a some hair of the dog in that cup (which says “father” in Spanish in case you were wondering).

Obviously both Rahm and golf fans would prefer him to be out there this week, but as far as a backup plan goes, this looks pretty good to us. So rest up, Rahmbo. Hopefully we’ll see you at Royal Troon next month.
