Cam Davis had never made more than $462,300 in a PGA Tour event prior to this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic. But that number changed dramatically on Sunday when the 26-year-old Australian shot a closing 67 to get into a three-way playoff at Detroit Golf Club with Troy Merritt and Joaquin Niemann. With a birdie on the fifth extra hole, Davis wrapped up his first PGA Tour title and earned the $1.35 million winner’s check.

Just how big a payday was it for Davis? In 70 previous starts, he had earned a combined $2.67 million.
