Here's the prize money payout for each golfer at the 2021 Memorial

No matter how things turned out on Sunday at Muirfield Village, the 2021 Memorial will always be remembered as the tournament Jon Rahm should have won. The 26-year-old Spaniard walked off the 18th hole on Saturday having played arguably the best round of golf ever in a PGA Tour event, shooting an eight-under 64 to take a six-shot lead, only to be informed the COVID-19 test he took earlier in the day had come up positive. Tour officials informed Rahm he’d have to withdraw from the event just as he was trying to become the only golfer other than Tiger Woods to repeat as champion.
In the aftermath of that chaotic scene, Patrick Cantlay and Collin Morikawa went from being long shots to catch Rahm to co-leaders with the opportunity to steal a victory. The pair started the round with a three-shot edge over Branden Grace and Scottie Scheffler. And they remained tied through 72 holes each shooting Sunday 71s to force a playoff.
On the first extra hole, the par-4 18th, Cantlay made a par to pull out the title after Morikawa missed his a seven-foot par try to extend the playoff. The win was Cantlay’s fourth career PGA Tour title and his second Memorial win in three years.
In pulling out the victory, Cantlay also came away with some nice spoils. Given the elevated status of the event, he earned 550 FedEx Cup points rather than the typical 500 and grabbed a three-year exemption on tour instead of the usual two. And the purse, well it was “elevated,” too. The overall prize money payout for the week is $9.3 million with the Cantlay earning $1.675 million.
