Keegan Bradley and Ben An weren't the only people to feel like they got punched in the gut by Grayson Murray's 38-foot bomb on the first playoff hole of the Sony Open on Sunday. Murray's former caddie couldn't help but feel a bit of pain as well. And it's easy to see why.
Kip Henley looped for Murray beginning in May last year, helping him win twice on the Korn Ferry Tour to punch his ticket back to the PGA Tour. But he was shocked to be fired in November. Now less than two months later, he could only watch as his former boss earned the biggest win of his career—and a $1.5 million payday.
It prompted Henley to tweet this perfect (and painful) one-word response:
Ouchy is right. Assuming the usual 10-percent tip, that's a $150K payout that Henley missed out on. Instead, Murray's new caddie, Jay Green, earned that nice check for carrying Murray's clubs around Hawaii for a few days. Not too shabby.
Henley then offered a little insight to what he was going through Sunday night:
Hey, the man was just being honest. And in our opinion, he's allowed to vent a little given the situation.
But as Henley mentioned, on the bright side, he has a new gig looping for Scott Gutschewski, starting at this week's American Express. Shake it off, Kip.
