European Tour pro gets one of the luckiest bounces you'll ever see

November 09, 2017

We're just one day into the European Tour's Nedbank Golf Challenge, but we've already seen some pretty wild stuff. First, there was an on-course showdown between a snake and a mongoose. Then, a former Masters champ turned his hotel room into a practice range. And during the first round, Nacho Elvira got one of the luckiest bounces of 2017.

Elvira's third shot on the par-5 9th hole at Gary Player Country Club (his final hole of the day) went long downwind and hit the downslope behind the green. His golf ball was tracking toward a water hazard when it hit a rock and bounced backward. And onto the green. Check it out:

Elvira missed the birdie putt, but he certainly couldn't complain with a par after that crazy break. And after shooting an opening 70, he sits just three shots off Bernd Wiesberger's lead after Day 1. Even if that golf ball has a giant scuff mark on it, we suggest Elvira keeps it in play on Day 2.
