Deal of the Week: Enjoy the offseason at Kiawah's Ocean Course

September 22, 2015

Kiawah Island Golf Resort is bringing back one of its most popular off-peak golf and dining packages, which means you can experience five-star accommodations and major-championship caliber golf for almost half off in the late fall and early winter.

Book the Champions Choice package for a stay between November 15 and March 3 and you can play two rounds at any of the resort's five courses -- including the Ocean Course -- and stay in either the Sanctuary ($400 per night) or at one of the on-course villas ($300 per night). You can also switch out one of the rounds of golf for an opulent dinner at one of the resort's five world-class restaurants. In peak season, a round on the Ocean Course is $360 and a night at the Sanctuary starts at $450.

If you book a stay of at least three nights at the Sanctuary, you'll also qualify for resort credits that can be used in the golf shop or at the Sanctuary Spa. For three nights, you'll get $100, and for four you receive $200 in credit plus a room upgrade and 3 p.m. checkout time.

November weather in the Charleston area is ideal, with daily highs in the mid- to upper 60s. January and February have more of a Scottish mid-50s feel, but with the actual potential of sun and a 70-degree day. When you tee it up on the Ocean Course, look back from the blue tees and marvel at how Rory McIlroy shot 67-65 on the weekend to win the 2012 PGA from 1,500 yards longer than you're playing.
