You have to admire their guts if nothing else. In the face of worldwide economic anxiety, a group of investors has announced plans for a $78 million golf resort in the North Scotland town of Angus, according to the Scotsman.

The backers include local entrepreneur Mike Forbes (who operates the Kingennie estate near Dundee) and golfer Darren Clarke (pictured). Graeme Webster will design the course. Plans call for a hotel and a youth golf school as well.

The group aims to show its proposal to the public on Friday.
