British Open 2025: Someone updated Haotong Li's Wikipedia page with a hilarious nickname ahead of Sunday's final round
Oisin Keniry/R&A
With Scottie Scheffler holding a four-shot lead through 54 holes, the final round of the 2025 British Open seems like a foregone conclusion. Even for those competing against the World No. 1.
But at least one golf fan is confident that there will be a final-round comeback. By Haotong Li.
We know this because stats guru Justin Ray was perusing the Chinese golfer's Wikipedia page and noticed that someone had added a hilarious—and hopeful—nickname for him: Scheffler Slayer.
Either this mystery Wiki moderator is the biggest Haotong Li fan on the planet or he got an advance copy of Sunday's script for the final round's final pairing.
If it does somehow happen, it would obviously be a fitting title. And it does have a nice ring to it. Just saying.
UPDATE: Haotong Li will not be known as the Scheffler Slayer. Oh well.

Is it the British Open or the Open Championship? The name of the final men’s major of the golf season is a subject of continued discussion. The event’s official name, as explained in this op-ed by former R&A chairman Ian Pattinson, is the Open Championship. But since many United States golf fans continue to refer to it as the British Open, and search news around the event accordingly, Golf Digest continues to utilize both names in its coverage.
