His Mother was a Mudder

British Open 2023: Brian Harman has a bigger selection of golf gloves hanging under his umbrella than your local Dick’s

It’s nasty out there. There’s no other way to put it. It’s wet. It’s windy. The bunkers have turned to mud and the footpaths into something worse. As far as weather on a major Sunday goes, it doesn’t get much worse than what we’re seeing at Royal Liverpool. Needless to say, we’re glad to be watching from the comfort of our couches, even if we can’t see much anyway.

But these guys are the best of the best. Pro’s pros. While this kind of slop may rattle you and me, these guys came armed with an armoire of rain suits, umbrellas, towels and of course gloves. Lots and lots of gloves. Just ask 54-hole leader Brian Harman, who was running a practical pro shop beneath his umbrella on Sunday.

That’s an impressive arsenal. All he’s missing is a few pairs of dry socks and a couple of fresh sleeves of balls. Whether or not Harman’s haberdashery helps him slosh out his first major victory remains to be seen, but you can’t say he didn’t come prepared.
