Authorities raid California golf club for running illegal cannabis business

If you like weed and golf, it’s a brave new world out there. As of November, marijuana is now legal in 23 of 50 U.S. States and more people now experience golf off-course (driving ranges, simulators etc.) than on it. With such significant change afoot, there’s bound to be some growing pains, and no one is feeling them more than AOA Private Golf Club in Fresno, CA, who were just busted in possession of thousands of dollars of illegal cannabis products.
Weed has been legal in California since the passing of Proposition 64 in 2016, but with legality comes the government and the government needs their piece. That’s where AOA Private Golf Club allegedly went awry, operating its marijuana business outside approved channels for a “significant amount of time” according to the city’s attorney’s office.

In a search carried out by multiple agencies at 1817 N. Helm Ave. last Thursday, authorities seized thousands in illegal cannabis, cannabis products and paraphernalia. No arrests were made, but a criminal investigation as part of a California state crackdown on illegal cannabis businesses is now underway.
The Yelp page for AOA Private Golf Club remains, saying the business offered golf simulators, coaching, events and full-service bar/restaurant, but makes no mention of the now-defunct dispensary.
