Alex Fitzpatrick picks up maiden win, promptly drops underrated 'Happy Gilmore' quote

Just two weeks after an impressive Open Championship and major championship debut for Alex Fitzpatrick, the 24-year-old backed it up with a dominant maiden win on the Challenge Tour.

Needing only a round of even par to win, Fitzpatrick fired a final-round four-under 68 at St. Mellion Estate to win the British Challenge by five strokes. The win comes just one year and two months after the Wake Forest alum turned professional, and it came with a check of 42,756.04 Euro, or 36,800 pounds. Translation - just over $46,900 U.S. dollars.

In other words, it's the second-largest check of Fitzpatrick's young career, second only to his $187,900.00 check he received for his T-17 at Royal Liverpool last month. To celebrate, Fitzpatrick dropped one of the more underrated "Happy Gilmore" quotes before sliding his "big" check into the trunk of his car:

Is that an American accent / impression we're detecting? Well played, Alex, well played. Of course, as Happy Gilmore came to find out, you have to actually win to "one of them big ones":

At the rate he's progressing, there will be plenty more big ones in Alex's future. Between he and his older brother Matt, they could build a house out of them big ones soon.
