Adidas releases cow-print Stan Smith golf shoes to celebrate the Ryder Cup host state
As the designers at Adidas began their search for inspiration for a special edition Stan Smith golf shoe to commemorate the Ryder Cup, they didn’t have to look far. As one of the leading dairy producers in the U.S., Whistling Strait’s home state of Wisconsin has no shortage of cows and dairy farms around. The team designed a waterproof version of the Stan Smith golf shoe with a cow print across the midsole and a pink outsole. Here’s Adidas’s Ryder Cup-inspired golf shoes that will be available today (September 20) at adidas.com.

The shoe will retail at $120 and is expected to sell out quickly. Unlike previous versions of the Stan Smith, this shoe does not have a kiltie lace covering—a smart move to allow the cow print to shine without distraction. Adding to the cow theme, there is a unique cow “endorsement” tag on the tongue and fictitious “Dairyland Golf Club” logos on the sockliner.
Adidas released the first Stan Smith golf shoe in April ahead of the Masters in a bold green colorway with a removable white kiltie. The brand used the launch to also promote its Primegreen initiative, vowing to use recycled materials on all Stan Smith golf shoes when possible. The release was followed shortly with a waterproof version of the shoe in a simple design, a little more true to the original Stan Smith street shoe look. The primarily white shoe had green details at the heel and on the traction-covered sole. The cow-print Ryder Cup special edition drop is the third iteration of the golf shoe, with more expected to come.
