Jordan Spieth DQ'd from Genesis for signing incorrect scorecard

LOS ANGELES — Jordan Spieth turned a solid second round in the Genesis Invitational into a bad one by making a double bogey on the 18th hole Friday.
Then the Texan made his day even worse in the scoring room. The PGA Tour announced that Spieth signed for a 3 on Riviera Country Club’s par-3 fourth hole instead of the 4 he actually made. On the hole, Spieth missed the green left with his tee shot and chipped to four feet. He then missed the putt to make a bogey.
Spieth, the World No. 12, entered the second round only two shots off the lead of Patrick Cantlay after shooting five-under-par 66 on Thursday. He opened Friday with three birdies in the first seven holes and made the turn at 33. But Spieth bogeyed the 10th, 12th and 15th holes before recording a birdie at the par-5 17th.

At the uphill 18th, Spieth badly sliced his drive and had a second shot blocked out by trees. He punched 75 yards into a fairway bunker, and his third shot came up 46 feet short of the flagstick. Spieth pitched to five feet but missed the putt to make double bogey, shoot 73 and stand at three under—well inside the cutline of one over.
In a post to Instagram on Friday evening, Spieth said, "Rules are rules, and I take full responsbility. I love this tournament and golf course as much as any on PGA Tour so it hurts me to not have a run at the weekend."
Spieth was off to a strong start this season. He finished solo third in The Sentry, tied for 39th at Pebble Beach and shot four rounds in the 60s for a T-6 in the WM Phoenix Open.
